DSSTL

Laboratory Introduction

The Distributed Satellite Systems Technology Laboratory (DSSTL) focuses on the national strategic development needs, deeply engaging in distributed satellite formation and networking technology research. By studying the fundamental science and core technologies of new intelligent sensing and control, it leads the national major scientific equipment demonstration projects and achieves breakthrough scientific results. Supported by the National Natural Science Foundation, the Military Science and Technology Committee, the Equipment Development Department, the National Defense Science and Industry Bureau, the high-resolution special project, the 863 Plan, and the BeiDou and Deep Space Exploration special projects, the lab has achieved over 100 million in both research funding and capacity building through innovative mechanisms and technological research. This support has contributed to the development of China's first precision formation satellite, Tianhui 2, along with 12 other types of equipment.

Research Directions

Addressing 125 scientific questions from "SCIENCE," and combining the characteristics and needs of space groups: AI for swarm intelligence evolution; AGI-based game evolution technology; space collaboration and in-orbit services; precision formation design and control of satellite clusters; intelligent collaborative planning and simulation of satellite systems.

Significant Achievements

Published 2 monographs under the National Publication Project, and over 100 high-level papers in journals such as IEEE TAC, Signal Processing, and other Tier 1 journals of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, along with more than 50 patents.
First in the world to propose major technological breakthroughs, Liheng Wang, Weimin Bao academicians and experts in the field unanimously identified "satellite formation configuration design and maintenance control technology at the international leading level" applied in national major projects, 5 types of 12 sets of equipment, frequently featured on CCTV, People's Daily, The Paper, Sina News, Shanghai Jiao Tong University's headlines, and awarded Top Ten Scientific and Technological Progress Awards by Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Research funding >100 million, infrastructure >100 million: National "973" Program, Natural Science Foundation, Military Science and Technology Committee, Equipment Development Department, National Defense Science and Industry Bureau, high-resolution special project, 863 Plan, and BeiDou and Deep Space Exploration special projects.
Utilizing self-developed Lv Shang's Large Model to drive swarm intelligence from end-to-end self-game training, achieving AI-driven cross-level coordination of swarm intelligence, supported by the Military Science Committee and Equipment Development Department and other national key projects.
